I check the owncloud documentation and tried all listed solutions. After configuring everything the client is unable to sync our files. I finally sunk my head and decided to use the file sync client on my windows server. I tried several methods of the external storage and not one worked. The external storage claims to mount smb, FTP, Google Drive, Amazon, among others. Now I stated that we were using Owncloud to replace our FTP server. I could not find any documentation on how to resolve the issue. I log into my server and I'm able to mount, read, and write to the server.

I check my windows server and it's share is working without a hitch. I verify that owncloud links still work, but this time the external storage isn't functioning. The long link still works and we are happy for a few more months. After following the documentation on Owncloud's site I removed links and we used the longer link. After the update the links addon was no longer considered stable and actually caused a few minor errors in Owncloud. After the updates finished I opened our shared link to see an upgrade message.
